It is difficult to express how moving and serene it is roll up to these illuminated marble shrines lit up against a dark night sky. Several of the most popular sites are even more dramatic at night, especially the Capitol Building, White House, Washington Monument, Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, and WWII Memorial.
